Get Sporty!

Drop the boring tie and Suit. A new sporting look May also be the turning Point to invigorate your Personality.

Many roads lead to Rome, they say, and there also are many ways to health. Fashion also can help you go in the right direction. The summer collection is filled with shorts, Bermudas and even micro minishorts. The staid male in you will declare that it’s all too much, but perhaps the problem lies in your less than buff body.

Our work attire is an instant cover for torso troubles. We can hide that potbelly under our shirt and jacket, but polo shirts, T-shirts and casual short-sleeved shirts are not as forgiving.

But I believe you sometimes have to bite the bullet to try something different, starting small. Make the most of casual Fridays to experiment with a different look from the buttoned-up Monday-Thursday uniform. It will bring a bit of color into your life.

Try wearing jeans, paired with a polo shirt, and a casual belt without the usual gold double buckle. For a sporty look that also works for the office, Puma has leather shoes that resemble sneakers but will still fit in under your desk. So take some time to see what clothes are on offer at your local mall, instead of feeling that a sense of fashion somehow calls into question your masculinity.

If others are not too receptive to your sartorial experimentation – “wow, that’s some gut you got on you” – do not take it too personally. Consider it wellintentioned advice before you deal with the blood, sweat and tears of getting into shape.
